We provide three types of services: DESIGN, TEACHING, and CONSULTING. We work exclusively on projects that create symbiotic relationships with their environmental context instead of fighting to overpower it. Our philosophy centers on empowering clients to make informed decisions and we use a collaborative process that gives voice to all project stakeholders.
We offer complete DESIGN services for residential and small commercial buildings. We create symbiotic relationships between buildings and their environment. All of our projects minimize energy, water, and resource use. Our specialty is natural building, including passive solar design, strawbale, natural plasters & paints, cob, rubble trench foundations, and small scale living roofs.
We believe the key to effecting positive change is EDUCATION. Informed consumers know to ask for homes that are healthy, energy & water efficient, and that use recycled & renewable materials. We lecture extensively on "green building" topics and teach workshops for homeowners & builders, training them to build with natural materials, including strawbale, cob, and clay- & lime-based plasters.
We offer a range of green CONSULTING services to architects, builders, developers, and homeowners. We assess your project to find opportunities for improved environmental performance, including natural day-lighting, selection of healthy and sustainable building materials, and improved indoor air quality. We also help to design & build durably with strawbales in wet & humid climates.
