Award-winning architectural & consulting firm with over 35 years experience pioneering environmentally responsible, green architecture. Widely published and nationally recognized specialists in Design for Passive Sustainability, healthy green homes, climate-based passive design, high-performance wood frame, SIP's, and alternative construction systems including high mass concrete systems of several kinds, AAC, straw bale, etc.

Widely known for their pioneering design concepts and practices for Passive Sustainability (also known as passive survivability) which provide building owners and occupants the ability to naturally maintain relatively comfortable living conditions during times when there may not be power or water available from on-site or off-site sources.

In 1993, the firm was awarded the coveted Hershey Conservation Award and the Houston Audubon Society's Egret Award.
In the 1970's, the firm's founder, LaVerne Williams, became an advisor to both the Governor's and the Texas Energy Advisory Councils; a founder of both the Houston and the Texas Solar Energy Societies; and in 2005, was recognized by the Citizens League for Environmental Action Now as a "Houston Hero" for the Environment, locally and nationally. Prior to becoming an architect, he had broad construction experience in institutional, commercial, industrial, residential & in manufactured housing.
In 2007, he was nominated as a “Hero for Humanity” by The Art of Living Foundation, an international organization.
In 2008, he was inducted into the Conservation History Association of Texas' "Texas Legacy Project" (www.TexasLegacy.org): a project about the people who have shaped and continue to influence the protection of Texas natural resources.
He is nationally known speaker on green home and green living matters and on going beyond green and has spoken at the 2008 World's Future Conference in Washington DC and the 2009 NeoCon World Trade Fair in Chicago.

The Southern Solar Energy Center sponsored “Houston's Passive Solar Demonstration Home” in 1980.
The Hardin Residence, which was awarded the FIVE STAR rating from the Austin Green Building Program in 2002, its highest rating.
The 1st Certified LEED home in the Central Texas Hill Country, "Sky Fire at North Fork" near Hunt.
The 1st Certified LEED home (and the 1st Certified LEED PLATINUM project) in Austin Texas, the Birthplace for all U.S. Green Building Programs. Named "Tonala'calli" ("House of Sun & Water"), this home received the highest possible green building certification ratings possible from the top two premier green building programs in the entire U.S.: on the National level, PLATINUM certification from the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED® for Homes program; and on a Local or Municipal level, the FIVE STAR certification from the Austin Green Building Program.
